Amendments to TR CU 005/2011 "On the safety of packaging" enter into force

From 5 March 2025 amendments to TR CU 005/2011 "On the safety of packaging", introduced by EEC Council Decision No.61 of 6 September 2024, are in effect.

What to note

• Sanitary and hygienic requirements for packaging materials were clarified;
• The strictest requirements apply to food-contact packaging;
• Requirements for mechanical strength, chemical resistance and tightness were adjusted.

What businesses should do

Packaging manufacturers and suppliers should review current declarations of conformity and, if needed, re-test against the updated requirements.
